Self-Guided Tour of the James M. Milne Library

Wood doors open to the James M. Milne Library Circulation Desk which is decorated for Halloween.

Step-by-Step Tour of the First Floor

  1. There are two public entrances to the Milne Library, the front doors and the side entrance beside the Argo Tea Cafe. When you enter the library from the main entrance (as is pictured above), you will see an elevator on your left, and stairs on your right.
  2. Continue straight and you will see the Circulation Desk, where you can use your SUNY Oneonta ID card to check out books and other resources. Materials that have been put on reserve for your classes will also be found at this desk; remember, these materials can be used in the library but cannot be checked out.
  3. To the right of the Circulation Desk, you will see Accessibility Resources (room 133), which houses a service desk, staff offices, and the exam center.
  4. To the left of the Circulation Desk, you will see displays and curated collections which rotate depending on the time of year. Directly across from this display you will also find the library's new books.
  5. Continue past these displays, and you will find the library's Reference Desk, where you can get research help during staffed hours.
  6. Across from the Reference Desk, you will find the public printers on the first floor, which you can print to from your own personal devices or from the library's public computers.
  7. Continuing to walk towards the Argo Tea Cafe entrance, you will find the newly renovated open study space, bookable study rooms, and many public computers.
  8. On this floor of the library, there is also the library classroom Milne 102, reading room 102A, the current collection of print periodicals, and bookable study spaces.
  9. On the far side of the library, you will find the Argo Tea Cafe, which leads to the second public entrance.
