Milne Library has been awarded $30,000 from SUNY Oneonta's Regaining Momentum initiative to help authors pay for open access publishing costs, often called article processing charges (APCs) or book processing charges (BPCs).
For the first round of funding--opening in August 2023--SUNY Oneonta authors can apply for up to $3,000 to cover the cost of an APC for a single article, or up to $4,000 for a BPC for a single book. APCs will only be covered for the the corresponding author of peer-reviewed articles published in a Gold Open Access (non-hybrid) journal, and books must be published Open Access to be eligible for this award.
Details for the following discount programs are available at the OA Discount page.
SUNY has made an agreement with Cambridge University Press to support Open Access publishing. If you are affiliated with a participating institution (including SUNY Oneonta), you can publish your article Open Access - at no cost to you - in select gold and hybrid journals. In addition, our campus can enjoy access to more Cambridge University Press journals content.
SUNY has negotiated discounts on the article processing charge (APC) for Open Access journals with Elsevier as part of its current (2020 - 2023) agreement. The discount is 10% off the APC for select Elsevier journals.
Questions about any of these programs can be directed to Jennifer Jensen, Scholarly Communication Librarian. The library is also holding a hybrid information session to discuss Open Access publishing support at SUNY Oneonta on Wednesday, May 24 at 11am. Details on Campus Connect.
