The Common Read Committee invites the campus community to a panel discussion on Carry: A Memoir of Survival on Stolen Land by Toni Jensen, the selected Common Read for the 2025-2026 academic year. This event will take place on March 28th from 2:00 to 3:00 pm in the Hunt Union Butternut Valley Room.
Faculty members will present ideas for integrating Carry into courses across disciplines. Participants will have the opportunity to ask questions and contribute suggestions on how to incorporate this powerful memoir into their classrooms and discussions. Refreshments will be provided.
Carry is a memoir-in-essays that explores themes of gun violence, land, and Indigenous women’s lives. Recognized as a Dayton Literary Peace Prize Finalist and a New York Times Editors’ Choice Book, Carry offers a poignant and necessary conversation about survival and justice.
Copies of Carry will be available at the event. Faculty and staff can also pick up a copy at the Milne Library Reference Desk by asking a librarian and scanning the QR code. Each individual is limited to one copy, with additional copies becoming available to students in the fall.
