Mark your calendars for a special evening! On October 23rd at 6 p.m., we invite you to join the Alden Scholar Series Lecture, featuring a distinguished panel of speakers: Ann Traitor and Matthew Hendley from the Department of History, Darren Chase, the Dean of the Library, and Ed Beck, an Instructional Designer from the Faculty Center for Teaching, Learning, and Scholarship.
This event will highlight the launch of their new book, Chronicling a Crisis: SUNY Oneonta’s Pandemic Diaries, recently published by SUNY Press (2023). The book compiles over 200 blog entries contributed by students, faculty, and staff during the COVID-19 pandemic, offering reflections, poems, images, and thought pieces. It is an honest portrayal of the community's experiences through grief, frustration, resilience, and adaptation during a pivotal time in history. The event will be followed by a Q and A session and a reception in Milne 318.
The event is eligible for LEAD credit and will be hybrid, accessible through this Teams link, the QR code on the above poster, or in-person in the Alden Room, found on the third floor of the Milne Library (Milne 300). In-person attendees who are not associated with SUNY Oneonta can obtain a visitor parking pass from University Police for the day of the event. The event is open to the whole community, all are welcome!
The Alden Scholar Series, established in 2012, is a collaboration between SUNY Oneonta’s History Department and Milne Library. This event is designed to honor faculty members who have recently published scholarly books or completed significant research projects.
