Allocations Working Group

The Working Group held its first meeting on February 19 2024.  Below is a summary of the action items arising from that meeting: 

The Group agreed to a list of statistics to examine for potential inclusion in the formula: 

• Book price average for each department
• Call numbers of books/media purchased by departments mapped to Library of Congress numbers 
• Spend history of departments 
• E-book usage 
• Number of courses by department  
• Student FTEs in those courses  

The Group also agreed to explore the current percentage of the fixed ratio.  It was noted that the current call number allocations to departments is outdated.  The Red Dragon Series will not be a separate component of the formula but the Group will consider General Education requirements in the formula.  The Group determined it did not want to weigh undergraduate and graduate courses.
