Artificial Intelligence

What are the rules with AI at SUNY Oneonta?

SUNY Oneonta currently does not have a formal institutional policy on the use of AI. Decisions regarding AI usage are left to individual faculty members. However, as our understanding of Large Language Models and Generative AI evolves, policies at various levels may change in response to ongoing discussions about AI in academia. To stay informed on any updates, it is advisable to consult the Faculty Center and the University’s policy pages, especially the academic dishonesty policy and its appendix.

The Faculty Center offers AI syllabus policy examples to assist faculty in integrating AI into their course materials. If you have questions about creating an AI policy for your course or about SUNY's stance on AI, please contact the Faculty Center. For inquiries related to AI and information literacy, evaluating AI-generated sources, or scheduling a library session, please reach out to one of the Milne librarians. This helpful LibGuide is available to get you started, but feel free to contact us for additional guidance or information on AI that may not be covered in the guide.
