Access to ScienceDirect for Students, Faculty, and Staff

Current access through 12/31/2019. Alternative means of access include:

  • Individual title subscriptions
  • Custom subscription package
  • ArticleChoice - (prepaid immediate access)
  • Fulfillment services such as interlibrary loan and document delivery

SUNY Oneonta Students: Can access (at least until December 31, 2019) ScienceDirect and Cell Press through the SUNY subscription.

SUNY Oneonta Faculty, staff, and students on State Payroll:  Can access ScienceDirect and the Freedom Collection online for free by obtaining a NY State Library Card from the State Library in Albany.

You can apply for a NY State Library Borrower’s Card.  You will need a copy of a recent paystub, and a copy of your NYS driver license to apply. A librarian will assist you in getting access once you have a NYS Library Card. Turn around time from request for a card to activation is approximately two business days.

We will have historical access to a small list of core titles to which we have long subscribed through ScienceDirect. (see list under "ScienceDirect Core Titles Tab.") However, we will not have access to current content until the contract negotiations are resolved.

  • We will always subscribe to core titles that support our educational and research missions
  • We will retain access to subscription "back files"
