BIOL 5098-02: Graduate Seminar (Heilveil) Fall 2022

Interlibrary Loan

You may come across materials that are not available in print or in full-text through our library.  Have no fear!  You are able to request them from another library through a free and easy service called Interlibrary Loan!  This service allows SUNY Oneonta students, faculty, and staff to obtain books, articles, and other academic and intellectual materials from other libraries.  For complete information on how this works, check out the Interlibrary Loan Guide

While searching the library's online catalog, you may be prompted to request items through interlibrary loan that are not available through Milne Library.  Make sure you are Signed In!

The ILLiad system lets you:

  • -- borrow items from other libraries
  • -- make online requests for periodical articles from other libraries
  • -- review the status of your requests
  • -- check due dates of outstanding loans
  • -- ask for renewals (but don't wait until the last minute!)
  • -- and much more!

Articles typically take only a couple of days for you to receive the electronic copy in your Illiad account.  You will receive an email indicating that your article is available.  Then, simply log in to Illiad from the Interlibrary Loan link on the library's homepage, and once in Illiad, under View, click "Electronically Received Articles."  Note that these are available only for 30 days, so make sure to save and/or print!

Books typically take longer to receive through interlibrary loan - typically anywhere from a few days to a few weeks or more, depending on where they are coming from, so plan ahead!  You will receive an email when the book has arrived.  Simply bring your student ID to the Circulation Desk on the 1st floor and you can receive your requested book there.  Make sure to note the due date - it is typically a very short loan period!
