Are you preparing to publish your research and looking for support to cover article or book processing charges? Milne Library’s Open Access Publishing Fund is here to help!
This fund is supported by a $30,000 award from SUNY Oneonta’s Regaining Momentum Initiative, is designed to make Open Access publishing more accessible for SUNY Oneonta authors. Whether you’re publishing a peer-reviewed article or an Open Access book, the fund can cover up to $3,000 per article or up to $4,000 for one book. Funding is distributed in $6,000 allotments each semester through Fall 2025, with unused funds rolling over. Articles published in Gold Open Access journals are prioritized for funding. However, articles in hybrid journals are also eligible, with the fund covering up to 75% of their article processing charges (APCs).
Applications open twice a year, in August and January, for a three-week period. Early applications are strongly encouraged, as funding is limited and distributed on a priority basis to tenure-track faculty, graduate students, and first-time applicants.
If you’re planning to publish soon, take advantage of this opportunity to make your work Open Access and receive support to help cover the costs of article processing charges (APCs). Sign up [click link} to be notified when the next application window opens in January, and visit the Open Access Publishing Fund LibGuide for more information.
