Prison Book Donation Drive Information

The library is hosting a donation drive to collect books throughout the academic year. The books will be donated to a non-profit organization called Books Through Bars based out of Philadelphia. Books can be placed in one of the donation boxes located on campus. The locations are Netzer (main lobby), Hunt Union (near the ATMs), and the Library (across from Argo Tea). 

All books in good condition are welcome, but books in the following categories are especially desired: 

  • paperback dictionaries
  • current textbooks
  • academic press books
  • law books
  • art
  • tattoos
  • true crime
  • urban fiction
  • horror
  • black liberation/black history
  • nation of islam
  • wicca/the occult

Books Through Bars

Based in Philadelphia PA, Books Through Bars is a volunteer-run organization that distributes free books and educational materials to incarcerated people in PA, NJ, NY, MD, DE, VA and WV. Each week, they receive hundreds of letters from prisoners requesting books. Each year they send over 8,000 book packages. They welcome all who wish to learn and help.
