Gender and Sexuality Resources: Home

Scope: This guide is intended to support informed dialogue and action by providing general information and resources about gender and sexuality.  It was made in partnership with the Gender and Sexuality Resource Center. This guide serves as an introduction to these issues and as a starting place for finding information from a variety of sources.

Definitions

Gender | The range of characteristics associated with men and women and the masculine and feminine attributes assigned to them by society.

Gender Identity | One’s innermost concept of self as male, female, a blend of both or neither – how individuals perceive themselves and what they call themselves. One's gender identity can be the same or different from their sex assigned at birth.

Sex | The identification of the biological/physical anatomy most often categorized as male or female.

Sexual Orientation | One’s sexual attraction to other people.

Gender and Sexuality Resource Center

GSRC: The mission of the Gender and Sexuality Resource Center (GSRC) is to provide resources, education, support and advocacy for gender and sexuality equity and inclusion for SUNY Oneonta students and employees and therefore the greater Oneonta community in support of the campus’ diversity goals, through an intersectional social justice approach to issues of privilege and oppression.
