During the month of March, the library celebrated Asian Art with a display. Unfortunately, the display was only able to be viewed for a short time due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
The display was created at the request of Pearlie Rose Baluyut, a faculty member in the Art department. There were several library staff members involved in selecting the display materials. It took about 3 weeks to compile a list, retrieve the library owned materials, and create the graphic elements. It was difficult to find materials in the library for specific countries, but there were a lot of options available through Inter Library Loan and Resource Sharing.
The inspiration for the display was to not only celebrate Asian art, but also to create awareness of the various resources the library has in the Asian Art, Film, Theatre, Music and Literature subject areas. The library hopes to continue creating displays of this nature in the future.
Since many people may not have been able to see the display, or fully engage with it in person, the library is sharing some of the many resources it has available online! Check out the resources located below! They are broken down into different categories, so make sure to scroll all the way through to the end!
