CITING IN APA FORMAT

You will need to cite your sources in APA format for your assignment. Use the APA Style Guide to properly cite your sources. You can also find this guide from the library's homepage by clicking on 'Citing Sources' and then navigating to the tab for the APA guide; other resources are provided as well.

FINDING SCHOLARLY ARTICLES

Find scholarly articles by using one of the databases listed below. These can also be found from the 'Databases' link on the Library's homepage.

Try combining the name of the region or country you are focusing on with the following subject terms within the databases to find scholarly articles:

  • Spanish language
  • Spanish language varieties (or variation)
  • Spanish linguistics
  • Spanish language history
  • Creole language
  • Dialects

For best results, use a databases' Advanced Search option.

FINDING COUNTRY INFORMATION

To find specific country information, you can search the following databases:

FINDING BOOKS IN MILNE LIBRARY

To look for books in the Milne Library catalog, navigate to the library homepage and click on 'Advanced Search.' If you wish to only find online books, leave the search scope to 'Online Access' and change the 'Material Type' to 'Books'. Then enter your search terms. If you desire print volumes, change the search scope to 'Library Catalog', limit to 'Books', enter your search terms and click 'Search'. Once in the results list, click 'Held by Library' to limit to print volumes only.

REFERENCE BOOKS

There are a number of reference books you can use to gain background information on your topic. Below are some of the reference books available at Milne Library. Reference books must be used in the library; they cannot be loaned.
